World Aero Extra 300L
The Extra 300L is a true thoroughbred aerobatic aircraft and has earned a reputation as the premier sports, professional and unlimited aerobatic aircraft. The 300L is a traditional taildragger aircraft with a low wing monoplane configuration and a two seat, tandem cockpit.
The Extra 300L is constructed from composite materials such as carbon fibre, epoxy resin and kevlar as well as a rigid tubular steel fuselage frame. The keeps the aircraft weight to a minimum whilst retaining unparalleled strength. The 300L is the only production aircraft to be certified to +/- 10G.
The wings of the Extra 300 series aircraft are constructed of composite materials and are moulded in two parts. The wings on the 300L are symmetrical throughout the entire span allowing the aircraft to fly as well inverted as it does the right way up.
The pilot and passenger sit in comfort underneath a one-piece molded perspex canopy allowing excellent all round vision. The aircraft is always flown either solo or duo from the rear seat which has full flight controls and instrumentation. Flight controls are duplicated in the front seat allowing basic control of the aircraft.
Power comes from a Avco Lycoming AEIO-540 8.9 litre, 6 cylinder, 300hp engine which gives impressive performance. The Extra will happily cruise at around 160kts and will allow a maximum airspeed of 220kts.
The Extra is renowed for it’s user friendly nature with excellent and forgiving handling characteristics while retaining an edge for spectacular unlimited aerobatics. It has become the aircraft of choice for a number of aerobatic pilots on the competition circuit as well as many display pilots around the world.
G-XXTR is based at Shoreham Airport in West Sussex
